Environment: Prince William creates award to recognize solutions to the climate crisis

The best solutions will receive a prize of several million euros. The Earthshot Prize will recognize five laureates per year for the next 10 years

Prince William will launch in 2020 a price devoted to the environment which will reward several million euros for the solutions brought to the climate crisis, announced on Tuesday services of the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II.

Supported by a coalition of organizations and companies, the Earthshot Prize will recognize five laureates per year during the 10 next years “with the aim of finding at least 50 solutions to biggest challenges facing the world here 2030, “said Kensington Palace in a statement.

In an introductory film, the famous British naturalist David Attenborough presented this initiative as “the most prestigious environmental award in history”. Ability to “find solutions”

The prize will reward scientists and activists as well as economists, businesses and governments who help to propose solutions to the crisis climate change, “especially for communities most at risk from climate change.” The Duke of Cambridge plans to rally a large coalition of philanthropists and businesses to support his initiative.

The date of the first award ceremony was not specified, Kensington Palace explaining that the launch is expected “in a few months” and that the ceremonies will take place in different cities around the world.
