Oak Wilt management program announced

Contributed

Those living in the Texas Hill Country know it’s not a matter of if, but of when Oak Wilt will impact you.

A fungal disease, Oak Wilt is deadly to Live Oak and Red Oak trees, but there is hope. With proper identification and prevention management, you can keep this disease from devastating your oak trees.

Personnel with the Bandera and Kendall County offices of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will sponsor a program to address Oak Wilt on Tuesday, June 2, at the Majestic Ranch Art Foundation, 543 Highway 46 East, between Boerne and Pipe Creek. The ranch is located about a mile inside the Kendall County line on Highway 46. Registration begins at 5:30 pm, with the program slated from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Speakers with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Texas Forest Service and local experts will discuss all aspects of Oak Wilt management. The program will be outdoors so participants are asked to dress comfortably.

For more information, contact the Bandera County Office at 830-796-7755 or the Kendall County Office at 830-249-9343 of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service
