28th Annual Christmas in Comfort Parade

Gee, what a super evening it was — the first night parade of the year for the Chicken Car! The Comfort Christmas parade began at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, and the weather couldn't have been better. More than 100 floats were entered in this wonderful, crowd-filled parade.
The Ranch Radio float was in front of me playing wonderful Christmas music, so I didn’t have to play any music. As the Chicken car approached the announcer stand, with Jared Silverman of Kens TV serving as Grand Marshal, a sudden roar with clapping and cheering came to life. I could hardly believe the crowd’s response to seeing the Chicken Car, which was all decked-out with its Christmas cape and Santa’s hat. It was a flattering time and space that I will not forget anytime soon.
The photo is of the Kerr County Fair Christmas float. The little boy looked so cool making final adjustments to the Christmas lights on the float. Thanks to the Kountry Kurl Salon float committee for a job well done!
On Saturday, Dec. 9, there will be another night parade in Hondo. This annual parade is known as “Christmas in God's Country,” and it will start promptly at 7 p.m. I hope you will be able to enjoy one or some (if not all) of the parades scheduled near you this year. After all, ’tis the season to be jolly. Ho! Ho! Ho!
