Highway 16 Challenge Cup nearing climax

Final matches of the year in the 2009 Highway 16 Challenge Cup round-robin will be played next month on the course of the leading team - Bandera Flying L, Kerrville Scott Schreiner or the Fredericksburg Lady Bird Johnson golf courses.

The winning team will earn the right to keep and display the Challenge Cup for a year.

Schreiner was due to entertain Lady Bird Johnson on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the final round-robin match prior to next month’s playoffs, time and date to be announced.

The current standings prior to Tuesday’s event in Kerrville had Scott Schreiner leading with 53 1/2 points, LBJ, 52 points and Flying L, 50 1/2.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, the Flying L Ranch team avenged an earlier loss to Lady Bird Johnson course by winning a close individual play match, 13-11, in Bandera.
