Winning, Losing, scoring — Basketball teams in full swing

The boy's basketball teams were in action before taking some time off for Thanksgiving break. The varsity team played a tough Lampasas team on Nov. 17, and lost by a score of 67-40. Scorers for the Bulldogs were Alex Cardenas with 11, Tyler Campbell with 6, Justin Raitz with 5, Jerry Alcorta and Colby Brown with 4, Ben Shackelford with 3, Brandon Chamberlain, Wade Brosz, and Josh Ripple with 2, and Jason Mayhew with 1.
On Nov. 20, the Bulldogs traveled to Lytle to play the Pirates. Bandera started off slow and trailed at halftime. After the half the Bulldogs turned up their defensive intensity and started to pull away from the home team. Bandera ended up winning by a score of 52-37. Leading the Bulldogs in scoring were Brandon Chamberlain with 17, Justin Raitz with 15, Jason Mayhew with 8, Jerry Alcorta with 5, Ben Shackelford with 4, Wade Brosz with 2, and Alex Cardenas had 1.
On Nov. 20, the Bandera Bulldogs JV Boy's basketball team, lost to the Lytle Pirates. The boys played hard and gave great effort the entire game but could not keep up with the Pirate's scoring. Travis Adams led the team with 11 points and Dalton Cox with 9 points. Their next opponent will be Llano at Bandera High School on Nov. 28.
Freshmen Bulldogs slaughter Pirates
Over the holiday break, the Bulldog’s 9th grade basketball team competed in Lytle against the Pirates. The Bulldogs jumped out to an 18 to 4 lead by the end of the 1st quarter and never looked back. The score was 61-32 with the Bulldogs being victorious. Leading the way with the scoring was Trace Decker and Lucas Jackson, both putting up 18 points and Broken Jackson followed up to chip in 8 points as well.
All three Bulldog basketball teams played host to Llano at Bandera High School, on Tuesday, Nov. 28. Final scores: Bulldogs Varsity 71-48; JV 42-40; and 9th Graders fell 51-56 (Game recap in next week’s edition.)
