The freshman Bulldog football team traveled to Boerne on Sept. 27, to play in a wet and crazy game. The team looked sluggish at first when they let the home team drive down and score on their opening drive. The Bulldogs couldn't get anything going on offense and had to put on their first drive. The Greyhounds went down and scored again and took a 14-0 lead. The defense then tightened up and did not allow another touchdown until very late in the game.
The Bulldog offense started gaining yards and moving the ball. Several times the offense moved the ball into Boerne territory only to have the drive stall out.
Sammy Leal had several big runs during the game. Gunnar Winkler played well on defense and made several big tackles during the game. The Bulldogs would finally score and cut the lead on the first play of the 4th quarter. Kenny Trevino connected with Gunnar Winkler on an 18-yard touchdown pass. The 2-point try was no good. The Bulldogs would get another chance later in the 4th quarter when the defense made a big stop on 4th down. The offense could not move the ball and fumbled the ball, giving the Greyhounds a chance to score their last touchdown bringing the final score to 20-6.
