Bulldogs start football season with camps, meetings

Bandera Bulldog Football camp will be held July 31 through August 3, at Bulldog Stadium for ages 6-10 and 11-14.

Bandera Bulldog Football kicks off their season on Monday, July 31, hosting a skills camp for youth (first through fifth grade), middle school (sixth through eighth grade) and incoming nineth grade students at Bulldog Stadium, under the direction of Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Jeff Hamilton.
Campers will be divided into age groups with first through fifth grade students on the field from 8:30 am to 10:15 am and sixth through nineth grade students on the field from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm, from Monday through Wednesday.
Incoming Freshmen campers will finish at 12:15 pm on Thursday, Aug. 3. Immediately after camp ends on Thursday, incoming Freshmen will be issued lockers and equipment. At 6 pm, the coaching staff will host a parent meeting and an Athletic Booster Club meeting will follow.
Incoming sophomore, juniors and seniors can pick up equipment and locker assignments starting Monday, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 4, from 5 pm to 6 pm.
“Bandera Coaching staff is excited about the upcoming season as well as the Bandera Football Camp,” Hamilton said. “This is a camp designed to be FUN with a memorable learning experience for our young developing football stars of tomorrow.”
On-site registration begins at 8 am by the practice field. The cost is $30 for the three day camp if paid prior to July 10. After July 8, the cost is $40. Price includes a camp T-shirt. All checks are made payable to Bandera High School and registration forms can be found on the BISD website The camp is available for players six-14 years old. Anyone who has completed their freshman year of high school is not eligible to attend.
“Camp goals are designed to provide an environment for the football player to develop individual skills, to stress knowledge and execution of the fundamentals of football and to prepare the camper to compete at the Pee Wee, junior high and high school levels,” Hamilton said.
Assistant coaches joining Hamilton at camp are Albert Vega, Tim Markgraf, Jeffery Quillin, Joe Sanchez, Zach Bragg, Sean Berry, Jason Botos, Bryan Grams, Westley Miller, Bobby Lalanne, Abraham Vargas, Michael Pena, Myles Salas and Ryan Floger.
Varsity, JV and Freshmen Bulldogs kick off their season starting Monday, Aug. 7, with early morning practices at 6:30 am until 1 pm, with weights from 1 pm to 2pm, throughout the week.
Physicals will be offered on Tuesday, August 8, from 1:30 pm until 4:30 pm. Forms can be picked up in the Coach’s office.
The Bulldogs will host an Intra Squad Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Bulldog Stadium from 9:30 am until noon. On Aug. 18, the Bulldogs travel to Jourdanton for more scrimmage play and travel again on Aug. 24, to take on Crystal City in their last scrimmage before facing off against Lytle on Sept. 1, for their first regular season game.
