The first half of this jam – packed week is over

Jeff Quillin, Bandera ISD Head Baseball Coach

The first half of this jam-packed week is over for the baseball program. The boys have gotten off to a great start.
Monday night our JV White traveled to Alamo Heights for a non-district contest. The Bulldogs came out swinging and scored early and often. Justin Raitz and Darien Sanchez combined for the complete game on the mound. The Bulldogs were led offensively by Austin Abitz, Raitz and Riley Bomer. Bandera pulled away in the end and won 12-10.
Tuesday night the JV Blue and the Varsity traveled to Devine to take on a good Warhorse program. The JV Blue found them selves in a huge hole entering the last inning down 6-0. But one hitter at a time found a way to get on, some timely hits and some great base running allowed the Bulldogs to score seven runs in the last inning and hang on for a 7-6 come from behind win. Wylie D'Spain did a great job as he went the distance on the mound for the Bulldogs striking out eight Warhorse's on the night. Offensively Bandera was led by Zach Brakebill (1-3 BB, RBI, Run Scored); Tommy Cardenas (1-4 RBI, Run Scored); and Chase Havely (1-3 Run Scored).
The Varsity played the nightcap and it was a back and forth game early on. The Bulldogs put runners on every inning and applied pressure all game long. Bandera scored in five of the seven innings and pulled out an 8-3 victory on the road. Casey Harp, Brandon Chamberlain and Dakota Goode combined to throw seven strong innings and allowed the offense to guide us on the night. Offensively the Bulldogs were led by Harp (2-4 RBI, Run Scored, BB), Chamberlain (1-3 RBI, Run Scored) and Alex Cardenas (1-3 RBI, 2 BBs).
The baseball program would like to send out a huge congratulations to the Bandera Boys Soccer team on their big win Tuesday night against Boerne. Good luck to them in their continued quest to the state tournament.
