Bandera Bulldog Basketball tipped off their 2017 district season with a one-sided battle against the Fredericksburg Billies this past Friday night. Coming off of an open week of no game play proved detrimental to the Bulldogs, watching the Billies blast past them to their basket, outscoring Bandera 73-22.
With a slow start for the Bulldogs, Fredericksburg came out to play an offensive game outscoring Bandera 19-5 at the end of the first quarter. Connor Chessir hit a bucket and Landry Kinsel profited off of three free throws to give the Bulldogs five.
In the second quarter, the Billies went on a scoring rampage putting up 31 to Bandera’s 11. Chessir hit another basket, Brandon Chamberlain contributes 3 with an and one, Kinsel banked two, Justin Raitz contributed two and Aaron Givens hit a basket for the ‘Dogs to bring the total to 11.
Fredericksburg was up 63-18 by halftime.
Bandera battled back on defense only allowing the Billies 23 points in the second half, but unfortunately the Bulldog offense could only muster up six points.
The final six points scored for the ‘Dogs came from Raitz with another two, Alex Cardenas with a bucket and Josh Ripple with two from underneath.
Bandera had a bye on Tuesday and will travel to Canyon Lake this Friday, taking on the Hawks with a 5:30 pm and 7 pm tipoff.
