Bandera LadyBulldog Basketball celebrated another district win, beating the Lytle Pirates 55-47 this past Friday night, bringing their record to 2-1 in District play after a loss against Devine earlier in the week.
"Lytle came out with a tough defense but our girls were able to hold them off for the win," Head Coach Casey Botos said. "We had a great lead, but had some turnovers which led to Lytle making outside shots."
LadyBulldogs led at halftime 29-17. The Pirates fought back in the third, outscoring Bandera 16-8.
"The game got close due to us being in foul trouble but the girls were able to pull away at the end," Botos said.
Bandera sealed the deal in the fourth outscoring the Pirates 18-14, and bringing the final score to 55-47.
"I'm very proud of the girls and their energy and effort," Botos said. "They want to win and know what it takes to do it and it's an awesome feeling to be sitting third in district."
LadyBulldogs leading on the boards were Keleigh Schmidt with 17, Kaitlyn Rodriguez with 14, Katie Beauchamp with11, Alex Bauml with 9, Mckenzie Owens with 3, and Cara Gillaspy with 1 point.
Current District standings are Boerne 3-0, Devine 3-0, Bandera 2-1, Fredericksburg 1-2, Hondo 0-3, and Lytle 0-3.
