LadyBulldogs kickoff district with tourney championship

Jourdanton Tournament Champions Vanessa Figueroa, Kaitlyn Rodriguez, All-tournament, Katie Beauchamp, All-tournament, Larissa Williams, Keleigh Schmidt, Alex Bauml, Kaylee Hornung, Carra Gillaspy and MacKenzie Owens bring home another trophy for the LadyBulldogs.



LadyBulldog Basketball brought home a team championship trophy from the Jourdanton tournament before kicking off District play this Friday night in Bandera against the Fredericksburg Billies.
The LadyBulldogs traveled to Jourdanton over the holidays for tournament play, going undefeated and bringing their overall winning record to 13-8.
Bandera battled the D'Hanis Cowgirls in their first game, taking an early (10-6) lead in the first quarter and continued their lead throughout the game, winning 38-34.
Scoring for the LadyBulldogs were Kaitlyn Rodriguez with 16, Keleigh Schmidt with 8, Katie Beauchamp with 7, Alex Bauml with 3, and Mckenzie Owens with 4.
In the second game, Bandera sunk the Pirates in a 63-23 victory over Lytle.
Scoring for Bandera were Rodriguez with 21, Bauml with 13, Owens with 6, Carra Gillaspy with 5, Schmidt with 5, Larissa Williams with 4, Beauchamp with 4, Kaylee Hornung with 3, and Vanessa Figueroa with 2 points.
The Jourdanton Indians came out strong against the LadyBulldogs in their third game, taking the lead (34-28) from Bandera at halftime.
Bandera battled back and outscored the Indians 16-4 in the third quarter and never looked back, winning 61-50.
On the boards for Bandera were Rodriguez leading the team with 16 points, followed closely by Bauml with 15 points. Schmidt had 10, Beauchamp scored 9, Owens put up 6, and Gillaspy scored 5 points.
In the championship game, the undefeated LadyBulldogs took on the LadyBulldogs from Three Rivers and ran away with a 74-31 victory.
Rodriguez and Bauml led the team again with 16 points each, followed by Owens with 12, Schmidt with 9, Hornung with 8, and Beauchamp with 7 points.
Junior Kaitlyn Rodriguez and senior Katie Beauchamp won All-Tournament team honors.
The LadyBulldogs will host their first District game this Friday night in Bulldog Gymnasium starting at 5 pm.
