Bulldog Cross Country enjoy a sunset run on the beach before winning a third place team trophy in the 4/5A 5K Division. Runners included Casey Harp, Tanner Gibson, Jose Gonzalez, Michael Gonzalez, Charles Lopez, Aiden Keane, Jarred Elizondo, Brendan Keane, Ben Lopez and Seva Nix.

It's been two months since the sun rose on the first Cross Country season practice and the dynamic duo of seniors Jarred Elizondo and Seva Nix raced for the top two spots on the Bulldog team. Eight weeks and six invitational meets later, Elizondo and Nix remain undefeated as the gold and silver medalist (respectively) in every meet including the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Islander Splash Cross Country Invitational this past Saturday.
Elizondo was the gold medalist in the 4/5A 5K Division with a time of 16:37, and Nix won silver with a time of 16:50. Elizondo was half a minute faster than the third finisher and both Nix and Elizondo's times beat that of district nemesis Marty Luevano from Boerne, who placed second in the 3/4A Division with 16:56.
Rounding out the top ten medalists, senior Bulldog Ben Lopez placed eighth with 17:23. Lopez has consistently been the third Bulldog across the finish line, sweeping most of the earlier meets as the bronze medalist.
Contributing to the Bulldog team's bronze finish was junior Jose Gonzalez (58) with 18:33, sophomore Casey Harp (97) with 19:17, junior Aiden Keane (129) with 20:14, sophomore Michael Gonzalez (136) with 20:29.
Bandera entered individual runners in the 3/4A 5K Division with sophomore Tanner Gibson leading the 'Dogs with a hundred-fifteenth place finish with a time of 20:51, followed by sophomore Charles Lopez (126) with 20:58, and senior Brendan Keane (135) with 21:18.
The Bulldogs will travel to Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Oct. 3, where they will compete in the McNeil Cross Country Invitational, one of the premier high school cross country meets in Texas.
The course for McNeil Invitational is the same course that will be run at the 2015 UIL State Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 7. The Bulldogs placed fifth at the state meet last year.
