BMS runners earn medals at Bulldog Invitational

Bandera Middle school Cross Country teams earned a second place team trophy for the 8th grade girls, a third place team standing for the 7th grade boys and a fifth place team result for the 7th grade girls, at the Bandera Bulldog Early Season Cross Country Invitational earlier this month, at Bandera City Park.
The 8th grade girls were runner-up to Del Rio in the team division, finishing with all seven runners earning a medal. Ashlyn Persyn was the first LadyBulldog across the finish line, earning a silver medal with a time of 15:27.
Individual places and times were Persyn (2)-15:27; Meghan Mangold (3)-16:14; Nicole Biggs (9)-16:53; Mattie Morrison (10)-17:05; Tatiana Trevino (16)-18:57; Sophia Guajardo (18)-19:09; and Cheyenne Dennis (19)-19:26.
The 7th grade girls' team placed fifth with 116 points. Kaylani Phillips was the first LadyBulldog across the finish line, placing 14th with a time of 17:59.
Other LadyBulldogs placing were Carson Brzezinski (23)-19:11; Jordan Edwards (24)-19:11; Caitlyn Thrasher (25)-19:13; Jamie Wayland (30)-20:24; and Caitlyn Lewis (37)-25:15.
Even though the 8th grade boys did not have enough runners for a team, Mason Bankston and Walker Sine earned individual medals. Bankston placed 11th with a time of 13:41, and Sine placed 12th with a time of 13:45. Also placing in the 8th grade boys division were Davis McMullan (38)-20:53, and Jake Montague (39)-21:00.
The 7th grade boys' team placed third overall with 76 points. Individual accolades were awarded to Gunner Brown (9)-14:57; Ian Short (10)-15:12; Gage Brown (16)-16:41; Bryan Burns (20)-20:04; Andy Garcia (21)-20:35; Jared Hiedleberg (24)-26:48; and Ethan Ellingson (25)-27:18.
The Bulldogs and LadyBulldogs will travel to Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park this Saturday, to compete in the Fredericksburg Cross Country Invitational.
