LadyBulldogs pick up wins at the beach

Bandera's Varsity volleyball team traveled to the beach this month to compete among some of the state's best teams in the Corpus Christi Spikefest, picking up five wins and improving their overall record to 5-3.
On Thursday, Bandera defeated Victoria East 25-21, 17-25, 25-19. Dana Lohrke led the team in kills with 9, followed by Morgan Gross with 8, and Keleigh Schmidt with 5. Kalie Mansfield led the LadyDogs with 14 assists, 9 digs, 1 block and 1 ace. Defensive specialist Baleigh Toenes picked up 22 digs. LadyDogs contributing to the win also included Lohrke 9 assists and 2 aces; Remington Adams 10 digs and 1 ace.
After the win over Victoria, Bandera matched up with Aransas Pass and defeated them in two games 27-25, 25-16.
LadyDogs contributing to the win were Lohrke with 8 kills, 4 assists, 11 digs, 3 blocks and 3 aces; Mansfield with 10 assists and 2 blocks; Schmidt with 4 kills and 4 digs; Gross with 3 kills; Toenes with 10 digs; and Adams with 3 aces.
Bandera continued their winning streak in their final game of the day defeating San Marcos 27-25, 25-11.
Individual stats against San Marcos included Gross with 6 kills and 1 block; Lohrke with 6 kills, 6 assists, 4 blocks and 3 aces; Mansfield with 2 kills, 10 assists, 10 digs and 3 blocks; Thompson with 2 kills and 7 digs; and Toenes with 8 digs.
Bandera began Championship Bracket play on Friday, taking on powerhouse St. Mary's Hall, battling every game and beating them in a close match of 20-25, 27-25, 25-23.
LadyDogs contributing to the win were Gross with 10 kills, 1 block; Lohrke with 7 kills, 10 assists, 14 digs, 3 blocks and 1 ace; Thompson with 4 kills and 1 ace; Mansfield with 14 assists, 12 digs and 2 blocks; Toenes with 19 digs, Adams with 2 aces; and Schmidt with an ace.
Later that day, Bandera suffered their one and only loss against Rockport-Fulton in three games 16-25, 25-15, 16-25. Lohrke led the team with 7 kills, 10 assists, 13 digs and 2 aces; followed by Mansfield with 4 kills, 14 assists, and 3 blocks.
In their final game of the tournament, Bandera battled Flour Bluff in three tough games seizing another victory with the final scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-22.
All LadyDogs contributed to the win and individual stats were Mansfield with 15 assists, 9 digs and 3 blocks; Gross with 9 kills and 1 block, Lohrke with 8 kills, 13 assists, 12 digs and a block; Thompson with 4 kills; Schmidt with 10 digs; and Toenes with 9 digs and 1 block.
