Bobcats mix it up in Blue-Gold scrimmage

The Medina Bobcats began a new era of 6-man football on Friday, August 15, with an exciting Blue-Gold scrimmage on their home turf that featured big plays on both sides of the ball while setting the stage for their first scrimmage with another opponent to be played this Friday, August 22, at Our Lady of the Hills in Kerrville. Starting time in Kerrville is 5:30 pm.
The Blue-Gold action gave Bobcat Head Coach Mark Coley and his assistant coaches Josh Tally and Kevin Harper the opportunity to see the Bobcats in game-like action as they continue preparations for their first season in 6-man football.
Tally is the Bobcat defensive coordinator while Harper serves the Bobcats as special teams coordinator.
Coley expressed excitement when speaking of the Bobcats effort throughout the scrimmage. "Things went pretty well for us...there was a lot of excitement in town, a big crowd and we did well in a lot of areas," Coley said.
"We also need to go to work on some areas where we need to improve," Coley added. "We have a good nucleus as we start this program. Nineteen players suited up tonight and 15 of them will be back next year."
The Bobcats are led by seniors Ben Dabney, Ryan Little, Logan LeStourgeon and Jacob Lindstrom. The Bobcats will open the regular non-district season on Friday, August 29, at home against the visiting New Braunfels Christian Academy. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm at Bobcat Stadium in Medina.
