The Medina Bobcat Junior High Tennis Teams competed in district 29A play Thursday, May 1, in Mason. They competed against Hunt, Junction, Center Point and Mason.
Playing for the Lady Cats on the seventh grade teams were Caroline Burks, singles; and four girls doubles teams comprised of Mariah Velez and Makayla Moreno; Olympia Vaca and Britney Hollenbaugh; Caitlyn Garrison and Madeline Emmons; and Rylie Foster and Haley Jones.
The eighth grade doubles team was made up of Baily Coombs and Emily Mills.
On the boys' side, representing the seventh grade in doubles, was Joe Ortiz and Koby Burks.
The eighth grade Cats included Keneth McKelroy playing singles, and Austin Zirkle and Alex Ayala playing doubles.
Zirkle and Ayala proceeded the furthest in tournament play, competing for third place. They held on to tie seven games all, but lost in the tie breaker against a team from Mason.
The season was long, but the young team gained lots of momentum and improved since the start of play in February.
