After a long and hard season of strength training, the 2014 Lady Bulldog powerlifting season has drawn to an end with the completion of the State Powerlifting Meet last weekend in Corpus Christi. After an impressive showing at the regional meet several weeks ago, senior Taylor Schultz, and juniors Vanessa Muniz, Sarah Butler, and Calie Chesler all qualified for the state meet.
"I was very pleased with the girl's performance at regionals," coach Matt McCarty said. "They all competed very well all the way to the last lift. I was excited for the girls that qualified for state. It is a great opportunity for all of them and it shows how much hard work they have put in this season."
The ladies continued to impressive at the state meet, as Muniz finished in 9th place, Butler 10th place, and Chesler 15th place. All of the hard work in the weight room truly paid off!
"Congrats to these young ladies and to coach McCarty for taking it to the Next Level!" Athletic Director David T. Sine said following the state meet.
Senior Bryce Dowda is the lone representative for the Bulldogs at the State Powerlifting meet that will be held this weekend, March 22, in Abiliene.
