LadyBulldogs basketball team celebrate seasons' end in style

By Sandy Jennings BCC Contributor

The Lady Bulldogs shed their royal blue jerseys in exchange for formal dresses and traveled to the Kerrville Riverhills Country Club this past Saturday, for their 2nd Annual Awards Dinner and Celebration.
Members of the Lady'Dog basketball teams and their families, enjoyed a dinner including an incredible pasta bar, salad, deserts and a chocolate fountain that was a huge success with the athletes.
San Antonio Clark High School's Coach Richard Herbst was the featured speaker at the dinner. Herbst's coaching tenure includes Schreiner College (men and women's programs), Colorado State University, Boerne High School and the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. Herbst career wins are 636-321.
In his speech, Herbst stressed "not letting anything hold you back from your plan for success."
Coach David Farber took the podium and continued the verbal journey of a successful plan. Farber stated that while victories are not plenty at hand right now for the Varsity, there is a plan and this is evidenced by the success of the Freshmen program in 2012-2013, and this year's success of the JV. He encouraged the returning athletes to "stay focused and to keep working on their skills outside of the basketball season."
Farber finished off the night with the presentation of individual awards.
Freshman awards were given to Kaitlyn Rodriguez for Offensive MVP, and Morgan Gross and McKenzie Owens for Defensive Co-MVPs.
Andrea Felice was awarded the Junior Varsity Offensive MVP, and Dana Lohrke received the Defensive MVP.
Freshman Alex Bauml was recognized for several Varsity awards, including Offensive MVP, Highest Free Throw and Shooting Percentage and the Bulldog Nation Award.
Seniors Taylor Schultz and Cassie Henk were named Defensive Co-MVPs and sophomore Katie Beauchamp won the Rebound award. Henk was also a co-winner for Highest Shooting Percentage award.
This week the majority of Lady Bulldog basketball players began the next leg of their athletic journey on the track, soccer and softball fields.
