BMS Bulldogs take on Fredericksburg in final games

The Bandera Middle School seventh and eight grade boys basketball teams took on the Fredericksburg Billies Tuesday, in their final games of the season at Bulldog gymnasium.
Seventh and eighth grade B teams tipped off first, with the 8th grade B team pummeling the Billies 35-18.
Andrew Garza led the 'Dogs with 13 points. Also scoring for the 8th grade B team were Chisolm Magee 8 points, Tanner Gibson 6 points, Christian Henk and Harp Casey both with 4 points.
The 7th grade B team battled the Billies decreasing the deficit, but falling short at buzzer 22-30. Individual scoring was not available for this team.
Bandera's 7th grade A team took the floor in a fury, seeking a victory over the Billies. It was an intense game filled with fast-breaks and man defense, finding the 'Dogs short by 5 points at the buzzer, ending 31-36 in favor of the Billies.
Walker Sine led the 'Dogs scoring 13 points and multiple rebounds. Also scoring for Bandera were Wade Brosz with 8 points, Luke Tschirhart with 5 points, Jason Mayhew and Austin Bess both with 2 points.
The 8th grade A team matched up with the Billies for the final game of the night. After a low-scoring first quarter, buckets started dropping on both sides of the boards with the Bulldogs relying on speed and baseline penetration for a win.
With less than two minutes left in the game, Fredericksburg led by two and Bandera was forced to foul to regain control of the ball. The Billies maximized their free throw opportunities and led the 'Dogs 42-34 at buzzer.
Ben Shackelford led the Bulldogs with 10 points and numerous rebounds. Also scoring for Bandera were Chase Havely with 7 points, Brandon Chamberlain with 5 points, Isaac Bourg with 4 points, Alex Cardenaz with 3 points, Tanner Faris and Josh Kipple both with 2 points, and Wyatt Blair with 1 point.
The Middle School Bulldogs are under the coaching staff of Bryce Hogue, Chad Berardi, Brandon Weston and Abraham Vargas. Both boys and girls basketball teams celebrated their final games at the high school in the Bulldog gymnasium. The middle school athletes will now begin their track season hosting their first Bulldog Relays on March 6 at Bulldog Stadium.
