Bandera sub-varsity teams fall to Texans, looking for a district win

Looking for their first win in district play, the Bulldog Freshmen took on the Wimberley Texans January 21, in Bulldog gymnasium. A hard fought battle left Bandera trailing 21-37 at the final buzzer.
"Turnovers were once again the achilles heel for us," Coach Bobby LaLanne said. "The Texans converted turnovers into 24 fast break points, making it difficult for us to cut into the lead."
The leading scorer for the Dogs was Walker Hicks with11 points. Others scoring for the 'Dogs were Carson Wilke with 3 points, Connor Chessir with 3 points, and Bryce Boyd and Trevor Leggett both with 2 points.
The Freshman Bulldogs are now 0-4 in district play.
Bandera was lokking for their first win against Canyon Lake on Friday, but due to weather conditions, both Freshmen and JV games were canceled.
The Junior Varsity Bulldogs were also hurting for a win when they matched up against the Texans Tuesday night.
"We definitely wanted a win against Wimberley," sophomore post Utah Hicks said. "We came out strong and played a fierce second half, but we couldn't close the gap."
Bandera fell to the Texans 55-42.
"We came out cold and Wimberley took advantage of our first quarter woes," Coach Tyler Wanek said. "We made a second half comeback, but could not overcome the first half deficit."
Leading scorers for the Bulldogs were Brady Keane with 20, Utah Hicks with 14, and Jeremiah Silone with 3.
