This past weekend, the Bandera boys soccer team competed in the Alamo Heights Annual Soccer Tournament, playing 4A Corpus Christi Flour Bluff and Pleasanton. Flour Bluff scored a goal right before halftime and returned strong, scoring another goal at the end of the game, ending with 2 to 0 score at the buzzer.
The next day, Bandera faced Pleasanton and beat them 2 to 0.
"I was pretty happy with the results, especially since we had so many players out for stock show and rodeo as well as injuries," Head Coach Clifton Tierney said.
Goals were scored by Matt King and Casey Baker, with assists by Maverick Hicks and Austin Roberts.
Defensive player of the game against Pleasanton was Brennan Aguirre.
"This is a good way to start the season and we hope to work towards another playoff run at the end of the year," Tierney said. "Our guys have really bought in, and understand what it's going to take to play at that next level."
