On Friday the Bandera Bulldogs traveled to San Antonio to take on the TMI (Texas Military Institute) Panthers.
The JV squad got off to a slow start in the first half only leading by 2 at the end of the first quarter (9-7), and then by 3 at the end of the second quarter (19-16).
To start the second half Bandera outscored the Panthers 19-10 to put them up by 12 (38-26) at the end of the third quarter.
From that point on the Bulldogs never looked back as they continued to play well outscoring TMI 15-6 in the fourth quarter.
"We really came together as a team in the second half and were able to pull away from them. It was a good bounce back win after the loss to Devine," guard Brady Keane said.
Bandera beat the Panters 53-32.
Leading scorers for Bandera were Keane with 15, Ethan George with 14, Nick Salas with 6, Tryston Butler and Utah Hicks with 5 points.
While the Bandera Bulldogs Varsity held the high flying TMI Panthers to 54 points, the 'Dogs only managed to score 41.
"Ty Neff led all scorers with 19. Corey Jennings, who's post defense has been invaluable, had a scoring output with 7 points and grabbed 11 rebounds," Head Coach Bob Shearhart said. "Jonathan Raitz scored 5 points and played aggressive, hard-nosed defense."
The varsity record is now 13-10 with one more non-district game. The 'Dogs traveled to Ingram Tuesday and played the Warriors.
Bandera will host the district opener against the Boerne Greyhounds this Friday night, tipoff at 5:30pm.
