BMS teams 'traveling'


At Mountain Valley
The Bandera Middle School basketball teams have been doing a lot of traveling lately. Good thing it wasn't the kind to cause the ref to blow a whistle!
The Lady Dogs traveled to Mountain Valley where the 7th B team took the Hawks into overtime and came out with a win by a score of 13-12. Leading scorer for the Lady Dogs was Cheyenne Dennis with 4. Carlotta Bishop, Chloe Young, Salma Guiterrez, and Kaitlyn Garringer each added 2. While Victoria Flores added only one, it was tossed in for the win in overtime.
The 7th A team fought hard lost to the Hawks by a score of 17-23. Sydney Graves lead the scoring with 10 followed by Mattie Morrison with 5 and Ashlyn Persyn with 2.
BMS Tournament
Bandera hosted a tournament on Saturday with teams from Boerne, Kerrville, Fredericksburg and Pearsall. The tournament was short one team in the brackets, so 7th grade B team stepped up to the challenge to face dominating teams from Fredericksburg and Kerrville.
The 7th A team started the tournament off with 4A Boerne and lost by a score of 9-37. Leading the scoring was Jean Dickenson with 3, followed by Sydney Graves and Ashlyn Persyn with 2 each.
The second game of the tournament the girls played Pearsall and took them to overtime for a win of 29-21. Leading scoring for the Lady Dogs was Sullivan Wilke and Sydney Graves with 6, followed by Ashlyn Persyn and Mattie Morrison with 4, Jean Dickenson, Maddison Wilhelm, and Presli Mooney each added 2 , and Lindsay Brown and Deja Gamez had 1.
That win put them in the Consolation bracket where they played Fredericksburg. The Dogs struggled to score and lost to the Billies by a score of 8-47. Leading the scoring was Sydney Graves with 5, Lindsay Brown with 2 and Mattie Morrison with 1.
V. Boerne
The 7th grade Lady Dogs finished a week of basketball when they hosted Boerne North on Monday night.
The B team added to their win record when they defeated the Greyhounds by a score of 24-20. Leading the scoring for the Dogs was Cheyenne Dennis with 8, followed by Victoria Flores, Salma Gutierrez, and Kaitlyn Garringer with 4, Chloe Young and Joelene Mercada added 2.
The A team played a defensive game holding Boerne to no points in the 1st quarter and the Dogs led 2-0. At the end of the first half the Dogs were behind by a score of 6-8. The Greyhounds could not be stopped during the fourth quarter and ended up winning by a score of 10-23. The scoring was shared by Presli Mooney, Sullivan Wilke, Sydney Graves, Mattie Morrison and Ashlyn Persyn.
The Lady Dogs will take some time off for the Christmas Holidays and will be back in action on the first day of school as they battle Fredericksburg.
