The Lady Bulldogs volleyball team traveled to Boerne last Friday night to take on the Greyhounds, losing in three sets. Although Bandera was swept, each set was close and the Lady Bulldogs refused to let up on one of the top teams in the district.
"We definitely improved from Tuesday's game," Head Coach Dianna Heiner said. "We played pretty well overall, but we had too many errors in key situations."
The Lady Bulldogs played right with Boerne in the first set but ended up losing 27-25, before the Greyhounds put Bandera away in the next two sets winning by scores of 25-19 both times. The defense of the Lady Bulldogs was much improved, with three players recording double-digit stats in digs.
"Our defense was in the right spot 90 percent of the game," Heiner said. "We did a great job digging the ball."
Stat leaders for the Lady Bulldog defense included seniors Taylor Shultz with 16 digs, Catrina Sampson with 13 digs, Kelly Nelson with 12 digs, and Kelly Harris with 6 digs and 3 blocks. On the offensive side of the net, freshman Morgan Gross led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 kills, while Nelson added 5 kills, and Sampson recorded 2 aces and 16 assists.
"We just need to be more consistent in our play, and not have to play behind each set," Harris said.
The Lady Bulldogs concluded their season on Tuesday night in Wimberley, with results to follow next week
