The freshmen and JV football teams continued district play last Thursday night against the Boerne Greyhounds, as the freshmen team lost 42-13 and the JV Bulldogs fell by a score of 26-0.
Although the freshmen Bulldogs struggled to slow down the fast paced offensive attack of the Greyhounds, Carson Wilke, Nathaniel Jannell, and Dylan Bess recorded several tackles for the Bulldogs. On the offensive side of the ball, the dynamic duo of quarterback Bryce Boyd and receiver Connor Chesshir connected for yet another touchdown in the air, while Boyd added a touchdown on the ground for the Bulldogs. The freshman team fell to 1-2 in district, and will host the Navarro Panthers tonight at Bulldog Stadium.
The JV Bulldogs moved the ball fairly well behind the running of sophomores Aidan Leal and Trey Frerich, while quarterback Utah Hicks and receiver Tryston Bulter added some fireworks in the passing game. Untimely penalties killed several Bandera drives throughout the game, and the Bulldogs failed to get on the scoreboard. Charlie Ackerman, Dylan Goode, and Frerich led the Bulldogs in tackles while Jeremiah Silone and Butler had key plays in the secondary for the Bandera defense. With the loss the JV team remains winless in district at 0-3 and will look to pick up a win tonight in Navarro.
Both teams will close out their season next week as the freshmen will travel to Fredericksburg and the JV will take on the Billies at home. Games will immediately follow the middle school matchups.
