Bulldog volleyball drops match against Navarro in district play

by Brady Keane BCC Sports

The Lady Bulldogs volleyball team battled the Navarro Lady
Panthers in the second district matchup of the season last
Friday night, dropping the game in three sets (17-25), (11-25),
(21-25). Although Bandera fell to 0-2 in district play, the Lady
Bulldogs improved tremendously on the defensive side of the
net.
"We had great serve receive and decent defense," coach
Dianna Heiner said. "However, our unforced errors and mental
mistakes kept us from being more competitive and winning
the match."
The improved defense was led by senior Taylor Schultz who
recorded 24 digs, senior Catrina Sampson who had 17 digs,
and senior Kelly Harris with 2 blocks. On the offensive side,
senior Kelly Nelson led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 kills, while
Sampson added 13 assists and 2 aces.
"We need to keep our head in the game," Sampson said.
"We have the ability to go out and beat any team in the district
if we focus on the task at hand."
With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 14-16 on the
season. Bandera hosted the tough Boerne Greyhound team
on Tuesday, with results to follow next week. The Lady
Bulldogs have another home game tomorrow night against the
first place Wimberley Texans, with games beginning at 5 pm.
