Contributed

The Bandera Boys Cross Country team
finished eighth out of 30 teams at the UTSA
Ricardo Classic on Saturday, Sept. 21, with
Seva Nix finishing second overall with a
time of 16:48 for the 5K.
Nix shaved 26 seconds off of his time.
"It's all in the miles," Nix said. "Consistent
"training has helped me reduce my time at
meets."
Jarred Elizondo finished sixth overall with
a time of 17:04 and Ben Lopez finished
34th. All three boys are sophomores.
Freshman Jose Gonzales was the fourth
runner on the team and JR Josh Williams
finished as the fifth runner.
"Our team was missing one of our top
runners, Greg Macias, and we still put on a
great performance," Coach Clifton Tierney
said.
"This is the best boys cross country team to have ever come
through Bandera."
There was no JV meet so the JV team ran with the varsity ran very well. The
team was missing another good freshman, Aidan Keane, who broke his arm
Thursday night playing football.
"It is unfortunate to lose such a competitive athlete, but we all know he will
bounce back even stronger for next season," Tierney said.
Although Bandera faced fierce competition from Boerne, who placed first as a
team, the Bulldogs have definite goals for District.
"I feel like we are stronger than last year with more depth on the team," Nix
said. "We are still young, but know what we want. We plan on working hard to
beat the teams in our district and repeat at Regionals."
