The visiting Johnson City Eagles combined a powerful and explosive offensive attack with a rock wall defensive effort to soar past the hometown Medina Bobcats 51-6 in non-district football action played on Friday, Sept. 13 at Bobcat Stadium in Medina.
The Eagles scored early and often against the struggling Bobcats while improving their 2013 season record to 3-0. With the setback, the Bobcats fell to 0-3 on the year with a much-welcomed open date this week before returning to action on Friday, Sept. 27 at home against the Runge Yellowjackets. Kickoff will be at 7:30 pm at Bobcat Stadium.
Despite the lopsided loss, the Bobcats, who are down to a total of 14 players on a depleted roster, celebrated their first touchdown of the season when quarterback Weston Jenkins raced 40 yards for a Medina score. Jenkins finished with 76 yards rushing on 17 carries and passed for another 77 yards on 6 of 14 attempts with no interceptions.
