Ladies win Harper run; men place 2nd

The Lady Bulldog varsity and JV squads won their divisions at the Harper Jacob Krebs Cross Country Invitational Saturday. Of the 19 Lady Bulldog entries, 17 recorded their best time of the season, and 11 finished in the top half of the overall field of 150 runners.
Individual varsity medal winners were Mercy Yermo (2nd), Karla Presa (3rd), Caitlin Lenihan (5th), Kaitlyn Rodriguez (14th), and Taelen Butler (18th).
In the JV division, the eight Lady Bulldogs who finished in the top 21 were Emily Montague (2nd), Jeneive Casarez (3rd), Monica Mata (4th), Jewel Weed (5th), Hannah Robinson (8th), Laurynn Winters (12th), Jenessa Heinen (17th), and freshman Emily Dibrell (21st).
The BHS varsity men's team finished in second place overall with sophomore Seva Nix coming in first with a time of 17:15. Jarred Elizondo came in at 3rd, Ben Lopez came in 13th, Greg Macias finished 24th and Josh Williams came in at 26th.
Coach Clifton Tierney said "the teams gave a good showing but we will need to 'take it to the next level' in order to catch up to Fredericksburg."
The cross country teams will compete at the UTSA Ricardo Romo Invitational Meet at the National Shooting Range on Saturday, Sept. 21.
