The Bandera Lady Bulldogs volleyball team took on the Devine Arabians last Friday night, winning three out of four sets, 25-16, 25-12, 24-26, and 25-18. The Lady Bulldogs dominated for most of the night, overcoming the loss of freshman middle blocker Morgan Gross.
"The ladies played amazing," Coach Diana Heiner said. "We were playing a new lineup due Morgan's broken hand. Senior Kelly Harris stepped up and played middle, and ended up with four huge blocks for us."
"It was very important for us to come out strong, considering we were on their home court," senior setter Catrina Sampson said. "Although we won the first two sets, we seemed to relax in the third set."
The Ladies were led by Sampson who racked up 22 assists on the night, as well as sophomore Dana Lohrke with 15 assists. Senior Kelly Nelson had 13 kills and Lohrke had 10, while senior Taylor Schultz led the team with 30 digs. Harris had the four important blocks throughout the match, while Lohrke added two more.
Bandera will take on Burnet at home tomorrow night for homecoming.
"The win really gives us a boost of confidence moving forward in the season," Sampson said. "Coming into homecoming off of a win gives us momentum against Burnet, and that will definitely give us an advantage."
