By Brady Keane BCC Contributor

Last week the Freshman Bulldogs split up into two teams, heading to Llano and Smithson Valley, while the JV team battled Llano at home. In Llano, the freshmen fell by a score of 20-6; in Smithson Valley lost a tough game 18-8, and the JV Bulldogs fell by a score of 24-0.
In Llano, the Bulldogs struggled early with two fumbles and a punt on their first three possessions. However, Bandera settled down and eventually scored on a long 33 yard pass from quarterback Bryce Boyd to Connor Chesshir. The defense was led by Dylan Bess and Kidd Orion who had consecutive tackles for loss early in the game. With the loss, the freshman fell to 1-2 on the season, and will take on Comfort at home tonight.
In Smithson Valley, the freshmen held a lead for most of the game before falling behind late. A long run by Jacob Kimbrel brought the Bulldogs into the red zone early in the game, before the offense stalled out and turned the ball over on the one yard line. Despite the turnover, Bradley Casada forced a Smithson Valley safety on the next play to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs' lone touchdown was punched in from the goal line by Reese Jennings to make the score 8-0, but Smithson Valley went on to score 18 unanswered points.
The JV Bulldogs failed to score in their battle against Llano, but played their most physical game to date. After the first quarter, the defense, led by Jonathan Doughtery and Chase Raab stepped up to hold Llano to only 12 points for the remainder of the game.
QB Rueben Vargas and receiver Tryston Butler led the Bulldog offense, connecting on several passes. The Bulldogs fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss, and will travel to Comfort tonight.
