Pirates open season with 53-0 victory over Bobcats

The Center Point Pirates opened their 2013 football season with a thundering 53-0 victory over the neighboring Medina Bobcats in Texas High School Football action played on Friday, August 30, at Center Point.
The Pirates got off to a fast start with a 21-0 advantage after the first quarter of play and tacked on 20 more points in the second period to take an overwhelming 41-0 lead at halftime.
Pirate quarterback Kolby Kitchens led the Pirate offensive explosion with a 2-yard run for a score and a pair of TD passes in the opening period. Following his TD run, Kitchens tossed scoring passes of 18 yards to Roberto Zendejo and 38 yards to Larry Leitha as the first period expired.
With a 21-0 lead going into the second quarter Center Point struck again as Leitha scored on a 7-yard scamper before Kitchens found Zendejo again with another TD toss of 23 yards.
Aaron Walters tacked on a pair of 1-yard TD runs in the second and third periods for the Pirates and Chase McCutchen scored the final TD of the night on a fourth quarter 18-yard pass from Walters to round out the Pirate scoring against the Bobcats.
The Pirates rushed for a total of 178 yards in the contest while adding another 242 yards in the air while the Bobcats were held to a total of 37 yards rushing and no yards passing.
The Bobcats travel to Menard on Friday, Sept. 6 to take on the Yellow Jackets with the kickoff set for 7:30 pm.
