Lady Bulldog JV volleyball starts strong


The Lady Bulldog JV Volleyball team traveled to Medina Valley to take part in a dual match with Medina Valley and Marion on Tuesday, August 13.

In the match against Marion, Bandera came out on top with set scores of 29 to 27, 20 to 25 and 25 to 20.

Kaitlyn Robinson made 6 kills, Peyton Mooney and Ashley Montague made 3 kills each. Shelby Faglie had three aces.

The Lady Bulldogs fell in their match against Medina Valley with set scores of 12 to 25 and 16 to 25. Carra Gillaspy made two kills, Alexandra Bauml and Faglie made one kill each.

Robinson and Bauml both earned 1 block each.

In their match against local rival Hondo, the JV Lady Bulldogs dropped the first set with a score of 12 to 25. In the second set, the Lady Bulldogs edged past with a score of 25 to 23. In the final set of the match, the Lady Bulldogs sealed it with a score of 25 to 17 against the Owls.

Robinson had 5 kills and one block; Mooney, Bauml and Brittani Adams each made 3 kills.. Emma Degoes had 3 aces and Mooney had one ace.

Coach Brooke Ashcraft said "These were our first games of the year.

Once the jitters were out and we settled down, we played well together. We came together as a team and finished strong."

The JV Lady Bulldogs traveled to the Devine Arabian tourney on Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17. The Lady Bulldogs will return to play the Comfort Deer on August 20 in Bandera.

Games start at 5 pm for Freshman and JV teams and 6 pm for Varsity.
