Kornmanns win at Flying L

The Memorial Weekend Couples Tournament at the Flying L was a rousing success and attracted players from as far away as Hobbs, New Mexico. The Bandera power couple of Mike and Linda Kornmann won the championship flight with a two-day total of 138. Rod and Susan Roberts of Midland took second with 143, and Bandera's Roy Rodriguez and Sandi Johnston were third with 147.

Bandera's Tommy Armstrong and Cissy Elkins shot 158 to tie Midland's Dennis and Janet Snyder for the top spot in the first flight. Scott Ecke and Marilyn Dawson of Bandera were third with 159. Kevin and Kim Davidson of Eunice, New Mexico won the second flight with 164. Midland's Bryan and Irma Henson took second with 166.

The Kornmanns, along with fellow Banderans Van "Coach" Whatley and Louise Henson, Buddy and Kathy Antwine won skins, as did Eunice, New Mexico's Brett and Penny Parker.

Kenny Palmer of Hobbs, New Mexico won the prize for men's longest drive and Susan Roberts of Midland hit the ladies longest drive. Tommy Armstrong sunk the longest putt. Bandera's Kim Ratlff was closest to the pin on number 7 and Midland's Butch Willis was closest on number 17.
