Lady Bulldogs fall to F'burg in season finale

After building up a 7-2 district record through the first nine games of district play, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Fredericksburg on April 19, looking to close out the season on a positive note. However, the Battlin' Billies pitched a terrific game, and walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
Freshman Caitlyn Prince took the mound for the Lady Bulldogs, and pitched a good game. Despite a good night by Prince, Fredericksburg allowed only one Lady Bulldog hit, and made it hard for Bandera to get any base runners.
"We didn't get enough people on base to be successful," junior co-captain Macie Malone said. "Fredericksburg pitched a good game, and we just didn't execute."
Senior Captain Madelynn Kinsel knocked the only base hit for the Lady Bulldogs at the plate. Although the Lady Bulldogs did struggle at the plate, Kinsel, Malone, and freshman Katelyn Cornwell made good defensive plays for Bandera to minimize Fredericksburg's offensive production.
With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs finished up the regular season with a 7-3 district record, putting Bandera in second place behind the Wimberley Texans. The Bandera Lady Bulldogs will play the Somerset Lady Bulldogs this Friday and Saturday in a best 2 out of 3 playoff series. The games will be held at Boerne Champion High School, starting at 7 pm on Friday and 3 pm on Saturday.
"In order to beat Somerset we need to have productive at-bats," Malone said. "We need everyone to do their job at the plate, while also executing good defense."
