On Friday, April 12, the Lady Bulldogs softball team hosted the Boerne Greyhounds, looking to bounce back from a recent loss to the Wimberley Texans. After exploding for nine first inning runs, the Lady Bulldogs steadily worked towards a 23-6 victory over the Greyhounds, when the game was called in the fifth inning.
Senior Madelynn Kinsel started the scoring fest for Bandera after reaching base on a walk. Sophomore Michaela Pimpinella, freshmen Krystian Osbourne, Katelyn Cornwell, junior Macie Malone, senior Ellen Hevenor, sophomore Lindsey Martinez, and freshman Kristen Grothues each also added runs for the Lady Bulldogs in the first inning. The offense continued to add runs through the game, as every starter scored at least one run for the Lady Bulldogs in the game.
Freshman Caitlyn Prince led the Bulldogs on the mound, taking a no-hitter deep into the third inning. After finishing the game with a complete game, and only four hits allowed, Prince grabbed the win for Lady Bulldogs.
On defense, Prince was backed up with good plays by Grothues in left field, Kinsel at catcher, and Malone at shortstop.
With the victory, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-2 in district play. Currently tied for first place with Wimberley, the Lady Bulldogs have two games remaining to grab the district crown.
The Lady Bulldogs will close out the season tomorrow, Friday April 19, in Fredericksburg.
