By Tim McGrath BCC Sports Writer

The Medina Bobcats split a pair of District 27-A-1 basketball encounters on the road last week by roaring past the Nueces Canyon Panthers 67-38 after being tripped up by the Harper Longhorns 54-36 earlier in the week. The split by the Bobcats keeps them near the top of the district with a 4-1 mark.
At Nueces Canyon, the Bobcats jumped out to a 34-17 lead at the half and cruised from there to a 67-38 victory. Jenkins led all scorers with 19 points while Black added 18 and Collins 14. Dabney added 9 points while Jackson and Handley hit for 4 each to complete the Medina scoring effort at Nueces Canyon. Collins, Handley, Jackson and Dabney pulled down 9 rebounds each in the Bobcat victory.
The Bobcats came up short at Harper when the Longhorn defense held the Medina boys to 7 and 5 points in the second and third quarters respectively. Garrett Collins led the Medina offensive effort at Harper with 14 points.
The Bobcats travel to Junction Friday, Feb. 1 for a 7:30 pm encounter with the Eagles. On Tuesday they host the Center Point Pirates.
