Lady Bulldogs drop two games in district play

The Bandera Lady Bulldogs continued their struggle with District 27-3A basketball competition by dropping a pair of district games last week, the first a 67-21 decision at Navarro on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and the second, a 38-28 home court loss to Fredericksburg on Friday, Jan. 18 at Bandera.
The Lady Dogs, still searching for their first district win, got off to a good start against Fredericksburg as both teams battled to a 10-10 tie after the first quarter of play. Fredericksburg rallied in the second period to take a 20-14 lead at halftime on their way to a 38-28 victory.
Nina Russell led the Lady Bulldogs scoring effort against the Lady Billies with 8 points while Jordan Junker added 6 and Cassie Henk and Nicky Schoelles 4 each for Bandera.
Briana Mayhew and Shae Hopf contributed 3 points each to round out the Lady Bulldog scoring effort.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Dogs fell hard to the Lady Panthers at Navarro 67-21. The Lady Dogs scoring effort at Navarro included Schoelles with 6 points, Hopf 5, Junker 4, Casey Olsen 3, Mayhew 2 and Taylor Schultz 1.
With the victory, Navarro improved their season record to 22-4 overall and 3-1 in district play.
The Lady Dogs returned to action on Tuesday against Wimberley at Bandera and will host the Canyon Lake Lady Hawks on Friday, Jan. 25 in a 7 pm encounter at the BHS Gym. On Tuesday, Jan. 29, the Lady Dogs travel to Boerne for a matchup with the Lady Greyhounds.
