JV falls to F'burg

By Brady Keane BCC Contributor

Coming into last Friday's game against the Fredericksburg Billies, the Bulldog JV basketball team was 16-1 on the season, and 1-1 in district. However, Fredericksburg was able to exploit the weaknesses of the Bulldogs and ended up grabbing a 48-38 victory.
After blowing out the Navarro Panthers in their previous game, the Bulldogs came in hoping to avoid dropping two out of their last three games. The Billies had other ideas though, as they opened up the first quarter with an 8-0 lead and exploded to a 30-15 point halftime advantage over Bandera. The quickness of Fredericksburg gave the Bulldogs problems, as the Billies used their speed to out run Bandera on several fast breaks.
After halftime adjustments, Averie Mansfield led the Bulldogs in the second half on his way to a 23-point performance. Corey Jennings, CJ Shade, Jonathan Raitz, and Marshall Beightol also contributed to the scoreboard for the Bulldogs. Jennings grabbed countless rebounds in the second half as the Bulldogs rallied back to come within 4 points late in the fourth. However, it was too little too late for Bandera as they fell to (1-2) in district play.
The Bulldogs will get their chance at revenge against the Boerne Greyhounds on Tuesday Jan. 29, and will play Fredericksburg again on Feb. 5.
