Lady Cats fall to Nueces Canyon, Mason

The Medina Lady Bobcats found the going tough in District 27-A-1 play last week as they dropped a pair of games, the first a 55-28 decision at Nueces Canyon on Tuesday, Jan. 8 and the second, a 52-14 loss to the Mason Lady Punchers in a Friday, Jan. 11 encounter at Medina.
At Nueces Canyon, the Lady Panthers shot out to a 16-2 lead after one quarter of play and rolled on to a decisive 55-28 victory.
Lauren Ortiz led the Lady Bobcat scorers with 11 points while Whitley Whitewood added 6 to aid the Lady Cat effort. Brittany Harrison, Hannah Buettner and MaryEllen Mills chipped in with 3 points each.
The Lady Cats continued to struggle against Mason at Medina as the Lady Punchers jumped out to a 15-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 29-3 at halftime on their way to a 52-14 victory. Buettner led the Medina girls with 5 points while Harrison added 4.
