Knippa rallies past Lady Kats 50-36

The Knippa Lady Rockcrushers, down 17-16 at the half, rallied for 19 third quarter points on their way to a 50-36 victory over the home team Lady Bobcats of Medina in non-district basketball action played on Friday, Dec. 21 at Medina.
The game was tightly played in the first half and the Lady Kats took a slim 1-point lead at the intermission but the Lady Rockcrushers rallied in the third period to take a 35-29 lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth period, Knippa kept the pressure on the Lady Kats.
The Lady Kats were led by Lauren Ortiz with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals. Hannah Buettner added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists to the Lady Kats effort while Brittany Harrison (5), Abby Seymor (4), Whitley Whitewood (4), Chyna Phillips (2) and Nikki Sandidge (2) all contributed to the effort against Knippa.
The Lady Kats continue play at home on Friday, Jan. 4 with their first district encounter of the season against the Harper Lady Longhorns. Tipoff will be at 6 pm at the Medina High gym.
