2012-11-29Comfort wins battle of Lady Kats 38-28

The Comfort Lady Bobcats broke open a tightly played contest with 15 third quarter points enroute to a 38-28 victory over the home team Lady Bobcats of Medina in non-district basketball action played on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Medina.
The Lady Bobcats of both schools kept it tight early with an 8-8 score after the first quarter of play and a 14-14 deadlock at halftime. The Comfort Lady Kats then struck for 15 third quarter points to Medina's 5 to take a 29-19 lead into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, both teams put up 9 points each to bring the final score to Comfort 38, Medina 28.
Hannah Buettner led the Medina effort with 10 points while Abby Seymour and Lauren Ortiz pitched in with 6 points each for the hometeam.
Ortiz also came up with 5 steals to aid the Medina defensive effort. Whitley Whitewood totaled 4 points and Brittany Harrison 2 to round out the Medina scoring effort against Comfort. Whitewood led the home team with 7 rebounds while Seymour and Harrison added 4 each for the Medina girls.
The Lady Bobcats returned to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Knippa and will participate in the Johnson City Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 at Johnson City. On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Lady Kats will return home for a 6 pm matchup with Sabinal.
