The Comfort Bobcats ventured into the Medina Bobcats' territory and escaped with a 53-41 victory following a spirited non-district basketball skirmish between the two neighboring teams played on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Medina.
The visiting Bobcats jumped out to a 13-5 lead after one quarter of play and extended their lead to 30-16 at the half while the home team Cats struggled to stay close.
Medina came out in the second half and closed the gap to 34-31 with 15 third quarter points while holding Comfort to only 4 points in the period. The visiting Cats then put up 19 fourth quarter points to Medina's 10 to come out on top 53-41.
Mitchell Black again led the Medina effort with 29 points that included 3 of 6 from the field, 5 of 15 from three-point range and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.
Garrett Collins added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals for the home team while Weston Jenkins kicked in with 4 points and 4 steals for Medina. Adrian Jackson had 2 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks to round out the Medina effort against Comfort.
The Bobcats returned to action on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Knippa and will participate in the Johnson City Basketball Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 at Johnson City.
On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Bobcats will play host to the Sabinal Yellowjackets in another non-district matchup with tipoff set for 7:30 pm.
