By Tim McGrath BCC Sports Writer

Sophomore quarterback Quinten Dormady completed 25 of 35 passes for 272 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Boerne Greyhounds to a 35-13 victory over the homecoming Bandera Bulldogs in District 27AAA football action played on Friday, Oct. 26 at Bandera.
The victory by the Greyhounds improved their overall record to 5-3 and their district mark to 2-1 while the Bulldogs fell to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in district play with two games remaining on the schedule.
At Bandera, the Greyhounds exchanged early possessions with the Bulldogs before lighting up the scoreboard on a 3-yard run by Bryce Collins with 2:22 remaining in the first period. Taylor Knopf booted the PAT and the Greyhounds led 7-0.
The Bulldogs were unable to mount an offensive drive throughout the first half while Dormady and the Greyhounds struck for a pair of scores through the air in the second period to take a 21-0 lead at halftime. Dormady found Collins for a 15-yard scoring toss at the 10:39 mark of the second quarter before teaming up with Bradley Veselka on a 6-yard pass for a touchdown with just 1:15 remaining in the half. Knopf added a pair of PAT's to give Boerne a 21-0 lead.
Earlier in the second period, the Bulldogs managed to stop a pair of Greyhound first-half drives with interceptions by Jonathan Stoufflet and Caleb Beauchamp. In the third quarter, the Greyhounds extended their lead to 28-0 when Dormady and Luke Halbert teamed up on an 8-yard pass for a touchdown followed by another Knopf PAT with 8:16 remaining in the period.
The Bulldog offense then put on an impressive 19-play, 80-yard scoring drive capped off with a Fabian Muñiz 3-yard touchdown run and a Shane Montooth PAT to cut the margin to 28-7 with 11:57 remaining in the game.
The Bulldog defense came up with a turnover on Boerne's next offensive series when Beauchamp recovered a Greyhound fumble deep in Bulldog territory and returned it to the Boerne 24-yard line for a Bulldog first down. Six plays later, Michael Davis scored on a 4-yard run as the Bulldogs closed the gap to 28-13 with 9:05 left in the fourth quarter. The Bulldog PAT was blocked.
With momentum on their side, the Bulldogs again shut down the offensive efforts of the Greyhounds and forced them into a punt situation, fourth down and four at the Bulldog 48-yard line.
However, the Bulldogs were flagged for being offside on the punt which gave the Greyhounds a first down at the Bandera 43 with 7:36 remaining in the contest.
Boerne scored 10 plays later on an 8-yard TD pass from Dormady to Paul Burns. Knopf's PAT put an end to the scoring on the night as the Greyhounds earned a 35-13 victory on the road.
Muñiz led the Bulldog rushers with 82 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries while Beauchamp carried six times for 38 yards for Bandera. Noah Nelson added 34 yards on 8 carries while Killian Conner (6-24) and Davis (3-12-1 TD) rounded out the Bulldog ground game effort. Nelson completed 6 of 15 passes for 37 yards for Bandera. Stoufflet led Bandera receivers with a pair of catches for 28 yards.
