It's a 'Penta-Peat' for Lady Bulldogs

The Bandera High School Lady Bulldog Cross Country team, led by first-place finisher Karla Presa, won their fifth consecutive district title with a first place team finish at the District 27AAA Cross Country Meet held on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Starke Park in Seguin. With the victory, the Bandera girls will also advance to the UIL Region IV Meet for the seventh year in a row.
The Bulldogs also qualified for Regionals with an impressive third place team finish and will be returning to the regional meet for the first time since 2009.
Presa was named individual girls champion of the 27AAA meet following her first-place finish in the girls 2-Mile event with a time of 12:28:00.
The Lady Bulldogs had two more individual finishers in the top 10 as McKenna Mangold finished fifth overall for the Lady Dogs with a time of 12:51:00 while Kate Martin finished ninth overall clocking in at 13:00:00.
Other varsity medal winners for the Lady Bulldogs include freshmen Mercy Yermo (13th) and Caitlin Lenihan (14th). Freshman Emily Montague finished in the top half of the varsity division while freshman Allie Denham competed well for the Lady Bulldogs at Starke Park.
The Bulldogs were led by Seva Nix, who finished fifth overall while Jarred Elizondo kicked in with a seventh place finish to lead the Bulldogs to a 6-point margin over fourth place Wimberley.
Boerne took the top spot at the meet while Fredericksburg finished second. Ben Lopez, Greg Macias and Jayson Zamora all passed Wimberley runners in the final phases of the race to help the Bulldogs to their Regional qualifying third place finish.
Josh Williams and Sebastian Escobar will join Nix, Elizondo, Lopez, Macias and Zamora as Bulldog runners competing at the regionals.
The 2012 UIL Region IV Cross Country Meet will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at The National Shooting Range in San Antonio. The Class 3A race time for the Lady Bulldogs will be at 11:40 am while the Bulldogs starting time is noon.
The UIL State Meet is set for Saturday, Nov. 10 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
