Lady Bulldogs fall in 5 sets to Canyon Lake & F'burg

By Brady Keane BCC Contributor

Last Tuesday, Oct. 2, the Lady Bulldogs varsity volleyball team hosted the Canyon Lake Lady Hawks in a game that went the maximum five sets. Losing the first two sets by scores of (20-25) and (15-25), the Lady Bulldogs bounced back nicely in the next two sets winning (25-19) and (25-23). However, in the final set of the match up, Canyon Lake squeezed by the Lady Bulldogs (12-15.)

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Madelynn Kinsel who racked up 14 digs and 3 blocks, Kelly Nelson who had 12 kills and 2 aces, Dana Lohrke with 10 kills and 5 blocks, McKenna Mangold with 18 digs, and Catrina Sampson with 2 aces and 27 assists.

"Our main focus for the rest of the season is to stick together as a team," Sampson said. "We all have a common goal of winning, and we can't let anything get in the way of that."

After losing to Fredericksburg in five sets on Friday as well, the Lady Bulldogs stayed winless in the district season with a record of (0-5). The Lady Bulldogs will have five games left this season to improve their record, beginning tomorrow. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Wimberley to take on the undefeated Texans.

"Wimberley's record doesn't change the way we'll prepare at all," Lohrke and freshman Kalie Mansfield agreed. "If we play the way we know how we can beat any team we play. We just have to enter every game knowing we have the capability to beat any team on the other side of the court.
