The Lady Eagles of Leakey had the home court advantage as they set down the Lady Bobcats of Medina 3-1 in District 27A volleyball action played on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Leakey.
The Lady Eagles took the first two sets by scores of 27-25 and 25-11 before the Lady Bobcats answered with a 15-25 win in the third set. The girls from Leakey then snatched the victory with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
The loss by the Lady Kats evened their district record at 2-2 for the season.
Nikki Sandidge and Abby Seymour contributed six kills apiece while Lauren Ortiz and Kaitlyn Robinson added five kills each to the Lady Bobcat effort. Hannah Buettner chalked up 20 assists while Ortiz tacked on two more for Medina.
Sandidge also had four blocks and an ace for Medina while Buettner led the Lady Kats with 10 digs. Ortiz and Brittany Harrison had 7 digs each and Seymour tacked on an ace to round out the Medina Lady Bobcats effort at Leakey.
On Friday, Oct. 5, the Lady Kats returned home to take on the Harper Lady Longhorns and began the match with a 19-25 win in the first set.
The Lady Longhorns then took the next three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-10 to take the 3-1 victory at Medina.
On Friday, Oct. 12, the Lady Kats will again be at home against the Utopia Lady Buffs with a starting time of 5 pm. Next Tuesday, Oct. 16, the Lady Kats will travel to nearby Center Point.
