Mercier, Syphrett win tournament at Flying L

The Flying L Member - Guest Tournament was held Sept. 22-23. Ron Mercier of Vanderpool teamed with Flying L Director of Golf Charlie Syphrett to nail down first place in the gross competition with a score of 145.

Roy Rodriguez and Ted Brown, both of Bandera, took second place with 153.

Robby Kastern, former Flying L Assistant Pro, paid a return visit from his new home in Austin to team with Terry Peek of Bandera for a third place score of 155.

The Bandera team of Kris Herchberger and Scott Ecke won low net with a total of 121. Banderans Kyle Broll and Jim Rusell were second with 129, closely followed by Doug Hood and Roger Hueske with 131.

The Flying L Club Championship will be held on Nov. 17-18 and is open to all Flying L season pass holders or anyone living in the Bandera School District. Interested players may call Larry Henson of the Flying L Men's Golf Association at 575-390-9340.
