The Bandera High School Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs cross country teams continued their preparation for district competition with impressive performances at the 2012 Harper Longhorn "Hoofin' It" Cross Country Invitational Meet run on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Harper.
The Lady Bulldog varsity took fourth place in the 13-team field and finished with three medal winning performances.
Sophomore Karla Presa was awarded the second place medal while freshman Mercy Yermo finished 11th and freshman Caitlin Lenihan finished 15th to be awarded medals for the Lady Bulldog effort. The remaining Lady Bulldog competitors at Harper included freshmen Emily Montague and Allie Denham, sophomores Jessica Baker and Rachel Braker, juniors Lenise McHazlett and Ashley Frerich and senior Stephanie Williams.
Lady Bulldog Coach Steve Golemon had praise for the entire Lady Bulldog effort while pointing out that 8 of the 10 Lady Dog runners ran a seasons best time at Harper.
The Bulldogs were again led by Seva Nix, who finished fourth overall while Jarred Elizondo and Ben Lopez finished close behind. Newcomer Greg Macias also had a strong outing for the Bulldogs in his first race of the season.
The remainder of the varsity Bulldog runners at Harper included Josh Williams, Tyler Mayhew, Brandon Pina, Jayson Zamora, Matthew Halloran, and Frank Lopez.
Bulldog JV runners at Harper included Travis Lema, Jay Shelton, Rodney Rodriguez and Shahil Bahtka.
The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs continue their 2012 schedule this Saturday, Sept. 29 with the Hondo Cross Country Invitational Meet at the Hondo Municipal Golf Course. The Bandera Middle School teams will also compete at Hondo. The varsity girls will run at 8:30 am while the varsity boys run at 9 am. JV girls run at 9:30 and JV boys at 10 am. Eighth grade boys and girls will run at 10:30 am, followed by 7th grade boys and girls at 11 am.
