The fall schedule of tournaments at the Flying L Golf Course kicked off the last weekend in August with the Cowboy Classic. The men's tournament was a team competition with three flights.
Two father-son teams topped the championship flight. Mike and Ryan Kornmann took first place with a score of 131, closely followed by Kris and Codi Herchberger with 133.
Jesse Cardenas and Willie Pember won the first flight with a 140. Cowboy Vidal and Raul Monsevias were second with 142. The second flight went to a sudden death playoff, as the father-son duo of Larry and Bryan Henson edged Ron Mercier and Scott Aldrich after both teams shot 150.
Sue Roberts took low gross in the women's flight with a 168. Betty Brister's 147 took low net, followed by Marilyn Dawson's 150 and Carole Martin's 154. The Friday Shootout was a "last man (or woman) standing" event. Jesse Cardenas won the championship flight, Larry Henson won the first flight, and Jim Martin and Mike Dexter tied for the lead in the second flight. Louise Henson won the women's flight, and Sandi Johnson came in second.
